UK Chapter & Transport SIG SD Society

The UK Chapter and the Transport Special Interest Group of the System Dynamics Society will be co-hosting a webinar on ‘Transport & Health’ in late 2021 and are looking for presenters.

We intend to programme 2-3 presentations of 30 minutes followed by a panel discussion.

Expressions of interest to present from anyone applying system dynamics techniques to practical or theoretical applications related to the interactions between transport and health can be send as a short (c.200 words) summary of your work to transport.sig.sds@gmail.com by Sunday 31st October.

Call for Journal Articles: Construction Innovation

You are invited to submit contributions to a special issue of Construction Innovation entitled “Hybrid Simulation in Construction”. The main aim of this special issue of Construction Innovation is to devote significant attention to publishing the latest developments and findings on hybrid simulation that integrates two or more simulation methods to address highly dynamic and complex systems and its applications in construction. Submission Deadline is 31 March 2020.

Past Events: 2017 Conference Presentations

Annual Conference 2017

THEME : 60 Years On, Still Looking Forward Seriously Modelling what Matters and Building Up the Field
VENUE: London South Bank University
DATE: Wednesday 5th April and Thursday 6th April

This was the 60th anniversary of the founding of System Dynamics by Jay Forrester, who died in November 2016, leaving behind a unique and precious legacy. Our tribute, this conference, covered contemporary examples of the classic themes he first developed:

  • World Dynamics
  • Urban Dynamics
  • Industrial Dynamics

We also covered Health Policy, which has become one of the most significant domains modelled using SD. The conference was open to all, whether or they worked in System Dynamics.

Wednesday 5 April (am): Optional Session Getting Started Building Models

Led by Kim Warren, this session gave attendees a chance to get started in modelling.

Wednesday 5 April (pm): System Dynamics and the Real World

The opening session consisted of plenary addresses covering important subjects of interest to a wide audience. Speakers included:

Thursday 6 April (all day): Taking Stock and Developing the Field

This day was interactive, and considered System Dynamics practice and education in more depth:

UK Chapter Document Library Updated

Hi, just a quick update; the online resource for UK Chapter events, from 1999 to the present day has been, has been updated with many more papers/presentations etc.

Click here to access the online document library.

A new UK SD resource is available

Due to the herculean efforts of Siôn Cave (Decision Analysis Services), the UK Chapter would like to present a (hopefully) useful resource for all those interested in System Dynamics in the UK; a repository of presentations / reports / posters / videos etc. presented at our annual conferences, special events or networking evenings (going back to 1999).  This simple library takes the form of a downloadable Excel spreadsheet containing details for each of the available documents and links to access them online.

You can access this resource from the “resource” menu at the main UK Chapter website, or by clicking here.
